How to Create the Perfect
Hot Chocolate Station at Home
There’s something lovely about having a little corner of the kitchen dedicated to your favourite drink.
A place where the Velvetiser lives, the mugs are ready, the hot chocolate is within reach and everything has its own place. It turns making a hot chocolate or morning coffee into a small ritual rather than simply another drink.
Hot chocolate stations have been part of Fox & Fern for a long time, but over the years I’ve noticed that no two customers use theirs in quite the same way.
Some love having everything neatly organised. Others want space for beautiful jars and their favourite mugs. Some are hot chocolate lovers through and through, while others use the same space for coffee, pods and syrups too.
That was the inspiration behind our newest collection — more choice, more flexibility and the freedom to create a drinks station that really works for your home.
Start With the Space You Have
The perfect hot chocolate station doesn’t need a huge kitchen.
A small section of worktop can be enough to create a beautiful little drinks corner, particularly if you choose a stand designed around the things you actually use.
That’s why our new collection is available in a range of sizes.
There are compact options for those who simply want a beautiful home for their Velvetiser, traditional layouts with room for cups and sachets, and larger stations for anyone dreaming of a complete hot chocolate or coffee bar.
Before choosing yours, have a look at your worktop and think about what you’d genuinely like to keep there.
Do you just need your Velvetiser?
Would you like your mugs close by?
Do you reach for individual hot chocolate sachets?
Or would you love room for jars, coffee pods and all those little extras?
Your station should work around you, rather than the other way around.
Make Your Hot Chocolate Station Your Own
This is probably my favourite part of the new design.
Our larger drinks stations give you much more freedom to create a layout that suits the way you use your kitchen.
You can leave part of the board beautifully open and style it yourself with jars, mugs, syrups or seasonal accessories.
Or, if you prefer everything to have its own place, we can create additional cut-outs for things such as pod cups, hot chocolate sachets, mugs and jars.
Create a layout that is yours
Velvetiser on one side, coffee pods and mugs on the other. Hot chocolate sachets neatly organised beside a jar of marshmallows. Or simply leave the space open so you can change your styling whenever you fancy.
It means your station doesn’t have to look exactly like anybody else’s.
That flexibility is exactly what I wanted this new design to offer.
Oak or White Spruce?
Choosing the timber changes the whole feel of your drinks station.
European Oak
Our premium choice and the wood that has become such a big part of Fox & Fern. Solid European oak has a beautiful natural grain, lovely weight and a timeless quality that works particularly well in kitchens.
Every piece of oak is different. The grain, markings and subtle changes in colour mean that no two finished stations will ever be exactly the same.
White Spruce
Our White Spruce is a beautiful alternative if you prefer a lighter look. It has a softer, more subtle grain and creates a warm, natural finish while offering a more accessible price point.
Whichever you choose, your station is individually handcrafted to order. The natural character of the timber is part of what makes it yours.
Don’t Forget the Personalisation
Of course, it wouldn’t really be Fox & Fern without the personal touch.
Your drinks station can be engraved with wording that suits your home and personality.
HOT CHOCOLATE
BUT FIRST, COFFEE
MAGIC IN EVERY SIP
JUST ADD MARSHMALLOWS
Or choose something completely personal to your home.
Personalisation is one of my favourite parts of making these pieces. It’s often the final detail that turns a beautiful wooden stand into something that feels as though it was made especially for that kitchen.
Because it was.
Style It Through the Seasons
One of the loveliest things about having some open space on your drinks station is being able to change it throughout the year.
Autumn — add warm-toned mugs, little pumpkins and jars of marshmallows.
Christmas — bring out the candy canes, festive mugs and hot chocolate toppings.
Spring & Summer — your station doesn’t have to disappear. Style it with glasses and your favourite chilled chocolate or coffee ingredients.
A few small changes can completely transform the look without changing the station itself.
Made for Your Velvetiser
We know that many homes still have the much-loved Original Velvetiser, while others have moved over to the newer model.
So when ordering your station, you can choose which Velvetiser you own. We then make the machine cut-out to suit your selected model, helping your Velvetiser sit neatly within the overall design.
It’s a small detail, but an important one when something is being made especially for your home.
More Than Just a Hot Chocolate Stand
When I first started making our hot chocolate stations, they were designed to solve a simple problem — giving the Velvetiser, cups and hot chocolate a beautiful place to live.
But they’ve become so much more than that.
Customers have turned them into coffee bars, family hot chocolate corners, Christmas traditions and little everyday treats.
And that’s what inspired this latest collection.
I wanted to keep everything people already loved about our original stations while giving you more freedom to choose the size, timber and layout that works for your own home.
Handmade with care, made for your space and made to be yours.
